I cannot seem to move and situate my PBC's around Earth, I have tried adding waypoints, building a Tug to haul them where I want them, (in this case the PBC does not appear in the tugs list to link with, every other ship at Earth does, just not the PBC's).
I think I might have made a mistake in the fact that I added them in SM mode directly into a fleet but if this is not the issue I cannot see what is. Damn this game is hard to master!
Also, on the map screen where you can see all the systems you have exployed they all appear on top of each other, but I have seen maps showing them neatly linked in Blue Emu's Forum adventure.

PDCs are built into the ground. They can't be tugged around. :P
If you somehow unhooked them from earth you will have to use SM-powers on the task group screen to move them back.
Systems appear on top of eachother by default. Drag them out manually. You can set them to auto-align to a grid to get a neat appearance.

If PBC's are on the planet, why do I have two in a task force? aare they meant to be like that so that you can see and abuse them?
Thanks for the tip on the map though, great help thanks :)

Yep they all go into a tg so you can see them. As stated they are planet based and can't be moved.

If you build them as prefabricated component blocks however, you can ship them around and assemble them elsewhere with local industry (Construction brigades are useful for unpopulated outposts)

Got ya, I can see how it works now, but considering how complex this game is I would have liked to have seen some orbital weapons platforms that I could position around mother Earth as I saw fit.
Maybe add that to game suggestions later.
Thanks for all your help.

It's doable.

If you build a ship with no engines it effectively becomes a satellite / orbital base / orbital weapons platform.
-
Don't forget that PDCs have a bonus to missile RoF. The same sized launcher on a PDC is half that of a ship-board. Just make the design a PDC launcher.
-
Likewise PDC beam Fire Controls have a 50% bonus to beam range.
-
bear in mind that PDCs are always subject to beam degredation from planetary atmospheres. Unless you rely on meson cannons, orbital beam defence bases are an important part of a layered static defense for an inhabited planet.
-
Which is why close-orbiting, airless moons can be useful if said orbit is within your beam tech

Awhile back I built what I called the Dragon Wall in my home system. Non-sol start where my HW was shielded from the outer system by a asteroid field. The field was well away from any of the JPs that were in the system so I choose 7 rocks and placed 3 Dragon class PDCs on each one. Each dragon had some ASM, AMM, a few large drone launchers (to cover each other, if one was attacked at least two other posts could cover with drones and if the attackers got closer than even more could fire) and each was topped off with gauss turrets for PD. Took years and many tons of minerals to build and assemble them but it was pretty awesome. Sucks that they never got attacked.

If you dont intend to terraform the moon it makes a good position for a Beam PDC if you have enough range (around 400 K km). The quickest way would be with particle beams by incresing the range early on. Similiar it could make sense to arm some moons around your Gasgiants to protect your Sorium Harvesters.
