Intelligence services and interrogation of alien beings
« on: July 17, 2009, 11:26:29 AM »
I picture the interrogation of alien beings as being something for xenologist and intelligence operatives :|.  You could then have your teams find out who the flag commanders are and then get random intel size from like what their economy's size where shipyards and defense installations are are as well as just the mundane or currently useless intel (it happens  . Any thoughts on this ?
PS inspired by the prominent roles(but i think overlooked) roles played by the rigellian and honorvese intelligence services.

Within the game is the concept of Espionage Points. These can be gained by using Espionage Teams against alien populations or by interrogating alien crew and commanders captured in lifepods. Once you gain a set number of points, there is a chance of gaining intelligence about that race. The potential information includes new technology, gravitational or geological survey data on a known system, summary data on an alien ship class, summary data for a missile or weapon system and knowledge of a new star system. At the moment this doesn't require any specialised installation, although if (when) I finally get around to biological warfare, I will have some type of medical installation where you can carry out research on live aliens/corpses in the same way as the old UFO games.
