Combat grade gains..?
« on: February 23, 2013, 10:43:36 AM »
So 5 str-9 missiles struck a 45,000 ton carrier with over 1000 armor strength and its grade bonus went from 5% to 15%.   :o

Is that supposed to happen?

I mean the grade gains before were kind of pitiful but this is huge :D

[speculation]I think grade point gain is proportional to damage taken, but since the grade bonus is related to the inverse of crew size the combat grade bonus gains in 6.x may be higher than in 5.x with the smaller crews.

That said, a +10% grade gain shouldn't happen unless the carrier is actually just 20 guys running a pair of boat bays and a bridge surrounded by 44,000 tons of armor, and even then I'm a little surprised to see a gain that large.[/speculation]

well, both A-class carriers - ~1000 crew - hit 2000 grade points during a slugfest. Other, smaller ships barely gained grade at all. It must be something hinky with this particular design? I know sometimes things get weirdly corrupted, like when you get engines that cost 10x what they should.

P.S. I meant >1000 total armor points, it's only 10 armor layers.
