Hosting Plan Change
« on: December 02, 2014, 02:57:25 PM »
I initiated a change in hosting plan with the current provider. They will copy everything from the current domain and install it to the new server. This means that 1. Things posted after this may or may not make it to the new server. And 2. The site will not go down during the process.

Once I have an all clear from the host, I'll pass it on to you.

Thanks Erik for the heads up, and for trying to find a solution.

Just an FYI, it seems the change has gone through. I can't completely verify this since I'm at work, but the billing and emails I received all indicate it has been changed.

Well, not to dump cold water on this or anything, I'm glad it's working well for you.

For me, I rebooted my system before checking this.  Other forums I frequent take 2-3 to 6-8 seconds between pages depending on the site.  Here it is very consistently a 30-second delay.  I'd like to hear from others what they are experiencing, maybe it's just on my end in which case I don't know what to do about it but that's better than it still being that slow for everybody obviously.

No improvement for me yet either.

It will take a couple of days for the DNS change to propagate through the internet. If you do a trace route to pentarch.org and reach lahut.lunarpages.com, that's the old version. If you reach creon.lunarpages.com, that's the new one.

Traceroute? Let me just grab my wire shark:

Ah, that would explain why I didn't notice any change. Tracert still goes to lahut.lunarbreezes.com (216.97.225.50)

As of just recently it's a ton faster!  We also seem to have lost a week's worth of posts.

They warned us of this. Oh well, nothing we can really do about it.

Woah, you know, you really get to cherish things once they have been missing for some time. Instantaneous loading; the future is now!

Seems like the posts of the last 9 days didn't make it though. Good thing I postponed making anything serious.

I'll see about getting backups from the old server over to the new server.
