Commercial jump engine transit
« on: October 26, 2013, 08:17:18 PM »
Hello all, I'm new and am having some trouble getting commercial ships to jump.  I created a jump ship with a commercial engine to try and transport my transports through to another system, but when i get to the JP, they cant jump.  my jump ship can transit through, but it if try to jump it through with any company, i get "Cargo TG1 cannot carry out its Squadron/Standard transit order as at least one ship is larger than the ship with the largest transit rating.  But my JD is rated for 37000 and my cargo ships are 35700.

here are the ships

Quote
Forrestal class Jump Ship    14,450 tons     78 Crew     248. 6 BP      TCS 289  TH 224  EM 0

MSP 11    Max Repair 55 MSP
Intended Deployment Time: 12 months    Spare Berths 0

Gray-Masime Commercial JD 37K-C      Max Ship Size 37500 tons    Distance 25k km     Squadron Size 2

Fuel Capacity 300,000 Litres    Range 63. 1 billion km   (942 days at full power)

This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes

Quote
Pilumnus class Cargo Ship    35,700 tons     99 Crew     451. 875 BP      TCS 714  TH 438  EM 0
613 km/s     Armour 1-96     Shields 0-0     Sensors 1/1/0/0     Damage Control Rating 1     PPV 0
MSP 8    Max Repair 15. 625 MSP
Intended Deployment Time: 12 months    Spare Berths 1
Cargo 25000

Romano Propulsion NTE 62. 5/25-C Mk.  1 (7)    Power 62. 5    Fuel Use 13. 26%    Signature 62. 5    Exp 5%
Fuel Capacity 650,000 Litres    Range 24. 7 billion km   (466 days at full power)

This design is classed as a Commercial Vessel for maintenance purposes

Any Ideas? I would rather avoid having to build a whole new Jump Freighter and design new parts for it because I started as a conventional empire and have hostiles in 2 adjacent systems.  Time is of the essence

We get this one a lot, the long and short of it is that the Forrestal there has to be the same size(or greater) than the Pilumnus class to support opening a rift of that size. The cheapest way to do it would be small cargo holds. To clarify, the warning told you that "at least one ship is larger than the ship", and thats the important part, the transit rating of the Forrestal is 14,450 tons, not 37500 tons.

The technical reason is while the drive itself is rated for 37500, the ship size is the determining factor in the size of the jump hole opened.
