Refit worthy of a Queen
« on: January 18, 2020, 02:57:42 PM »
This ship design is 100% spoilers so here is where it should go.  From a game in vanilla 7. 1 VB6 Aurora.  Is this refit wasteful and extravagant enough to be worthy of a boarded Star Swarm Queen?

Before:

Code: [Select]
Queen class Star Swarm 60000 tons     1 Crew     13063 BP      TCS 1200  TH 1200  EM 18000

This message kept showing up in the game while the refit didn't happen once the lack of life support decimated the crew of the boarded Queen to only one hardened survivor who refused to die no matter what, another reason why scrapping is more sensible, but not as cool:

1x F-40BT Pillbox Escort Fighter   Speed: 11793 km/s    Size: 8.14

This design is classed as a Military Vessel for maintenance purposes

59627 km/s is more than enough to drop a space marine company for boarding even a completely intact Queen before getting shot, but not always enough for the assault shuttles to bail before the mesons annihilate them.  I wonder if such boarding would involve the boarders acting like mind controlling parasites and hacking the organic brain of that thing, considering what the Star Spawn are.  The Machine Mother Class would have the appearance of a very H.  R.  Giger styled biomechanical horror and it would take guts to get inside the guts of such a thing and literally fight against its macroscopic antibodies or something like that to take control of it, then convert it into that with crew spaces inside its guts and all.  Not exactly an efficient choice, but where is the fun in that? Going all meson in this design was an option and would match the original more closely but also force it to always have to get very close, risk its fighters or try boarding to achieve victory, thus the choice of combining PD meson turrets and longer range unturreted X-Ray lasers.

PS: The Pillbox is a turreted gauss cannon PD fighter escort while the Bypassers are, as expected considering what this is a refit of, meson fighters.

I knew I forgot something.  Here some screencaps of the events in this particular game(if there are no restrictions to posting attachments, at least).  Respectively: 18750. 5 BPs well-spent, the history of the vessel before and some years after its conquest, the medals of the lone survivor inside a Star Swarm Queen and the results of its first action after the refit.
