Another easy way to create a colony on the asteroid is to just click on it on the map to select it, then right-click on it and choose "Create Colony" off the pop-up menu.

Ships will always be in a Task Group. When you create a shipyard task to build a ship you choose what TG to put it into; this defaults to the "Shipyard TG".

To put a ship into a TG by itself, go to the TG it is currently in, select that ship (upper right of the TG window) and click the Detach button (bottom right). This will put the ship into a new TG with the same name as the ship itself.

You can also move ships between existing TG on the "Special Orders/Organization" tab of the TG window. (There is also the Naval Organization tab but that is more complex than I'll able to explain.)

Once you have the mining ship (or ships) in a TG: On the TG window for that TG, select the asteroid you want to mine and double click the Extended Orbit action. Once the TG finishes that order it will automatically start mining.

To get the asteroid you want to mine to show up on the locations list create a colony on it. There is a Create Colony button on the Geological Survey Report (which is opened by the sixth button from the right on the System Map window or the Geo Survey button on the System Info window.)

The mined minerals will be placed in the stockpile of the colony on the asteroid. To get them off the asteroid you will need freighters or mass drivers.

hi space marines,

i've got another "difficult question for ya.   ;D

you see im not familiar with alot of mechanics in that game, and so it wont be the last question.
k, . . . .
i've build 2 asteroid mining ships (the first ships that are ready for action). .  and i'd like to give them advise to do mining.
how can i, or what do i have to do to send them on duty to mine a asteroid.
do i have to make a task group first and them assign them, or is it possible to send them without any task group for action??

i dont know how to send or assign a single or a couple of ships to a new created task-group.
what orders i have to make to do so
. . or how can i assign a single ship to go for work and mine a asteroid.
