I remember somewhere there was a table with Dominant Terrain To Hit Modifier. Now I can't find this table. Wiki link leads to 404 page

I know this post, but I don't see the table with the information. By the way, I noticed that all the screenshots that Steve posted in messages were gone.

I've attached it as an image file here in the meantime.

Swamp is 0.5 hit mod? Read about the Buna Gona campaign from WW2 in Papua New Guinea. I think the Australians and Americans found the Japanese fortifications quite formidable. Personally I would think Swamps are easier for a defender than 0.5. Swamps present quite a few problems for an attacker, especially in these days of high tech equipment that might not like the conditions.

It is definitely more difficult to build fortifications in swampy areas. It is also much more difficult to hide in a swamp from shelling.
And in general in Papua New Guinea it was more like a swampy rainforest. IMO swamp are something like this:

Remember that the modifier is an abstracted strategical modifier and not a tactical one and fortification is more than just building trenches and fortifications.

It is generally more difficult to attack in a swamp than in a plain, that is just the way it is.

Fortification modifier 2 means twice the fortification?
If so, no wonder I lost so many troops without really making a dent.
