Possible to undo a turn?
« on: March 06, 2013, 09:50:52 AM »
Is it possible to undo one turn?

I have ran into several occasions where it would be great to be able to undo last turn and revert to the state before it. Is this possible in some way?

Or at least is there a simple way to save the game and load it so you can save before you go into a fight or want to try out something stupid?

Copy the stevefire.mdb before you do something risky.

Note that the stevefire location in windows 7 is:
C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Aurora
NOT program files. Copying that one won't save you >.<

It's not a default function of Aurora as mistakes are part of life.  If you do something stupid in-game there should be consequences.  :P

This applies if you were silly enough to install within program files, which has been generally a poor idea for programs that want to update files within their own directory since vista. If you install outside of that location stevefire.mdb will be found in your aurora directory.

Yeah, I'm totally foolish enough to install a program in program files.

Copy the stevefire.mdb before you do something risky.

There's an FAQ that gives more detailed suggestions about this.

I'm mostly having a trouble getting hit by 10 missile saloves separated by 25 seconds each in the same time update, due to movement/time rules being arcane.

It didn't really feel fair to have 3 ships blow up in the same time update when I know their Point Defence is fully capable of shooting down every salvo incomming one at a time (and some more) if the time had been advanced more slowly.

Why would anyone assume that the program files directory is where programs go?  Sillyness.  A friend of mine initially had issues shutting down Windows because he was foolish enough to not look in the start menu.
