Range for tugs?
« on: April 05, 2013, 10:25:25 AM »
With the new, post 6.X engines overhaul, question about tugs.

When the tug is pulling something, does it change the range as listed in the class design for the tug?  Or is the range is the range is the range?

As in, is speed the only thing hit when the tug tractors something, or are there other calculations that I'm missing?  I did a quick check with running the tug to an extra solar colony and back, checking the fuel level, then refueling and doing it again.  Seemed to come out the same, but that's just 1 data point.

Yes range will suffer.  The degridation is proportional to the increased mass being moved.  (ie HS increases by X5 range is 1/5th).

So tugs generally need to be as over-fueled as they are over-powered to achieve their goal?
