This game looks pretty. That is about the best thing I can say about it. The voice acting sounds like the actors took lessons from William Shatner back in the day, i.e. "We must... go to the... space... station!" Ten minutes of that is enough to give you a headache.
The game is open-ended with a plot line. Sadly, if you follow the plot early on, you will come to a very unpleasant demise. The game revolves around you as a pilot of a fighter. You inherit or somehow otherwise gain access to a ship which acts as a carrier (the game isn't too clear on this). You also get a wingman. So now it is you and your wingman and your eggshell carrier to go fight off aliens and pirates.
The game does offer some decent ideas. The ship and fighters are heavily customizable, so you can get a loadout however you wish. There is a fairly detailed skill tree that you can go through. Each of your characters (You have 4 at the beginning) learns skills.
The biggest drawback to this game. Star Force copy protection.
Overall, if you can find this game cheap (under $10), then go for it, otherwise save your money for something good.
