My first Fleet
« on: January 28, 2016, 01:42:42 PM »
This is my first real game (had a few games to learn how the interface works and make bad rookie mistakes, so this is my first "Real" campaign.    I made a huge investment in ship building infrastructure and thus have a large shipyard capacity and slipways around earth.

Currently I am in the Sol system which has Earth and Mars at over 25 million, and a number of civilian and government mine projects.   There is a small settlement on Titan as well.    The Mars Military academy has just opened up.  (Built on earth and then transferred by SM to mars for RP).   I have located 4 jump points in sol and just finished doing a preliminary jump into each system.    At this time there is no known alien threat.   Let me know how badly I am building these ships.

This will include my support ships.

This is a very useful design.    A small tanker that was designed as a support for surveying missions and as a rescue craft when some idiot commander is going to run out of fuel, these ships are also having new life as very jumpable tankers.   Since they can be built on a fair number of tooling in the fleet there has been some talk of building 2 more.

Concerned that outside of PDC that there was no defense, but without good missile tech, the design was presented as a way to show the flag and provide some mobility and extension of force.   Established into 3 battle groups of 4, these have provided Inner-belt coverage now for a decade.    These designs are outdated, but provide important training opportunities for the officer corps, and are still maintained with low hours on the system.   They are still important for "Show the flag" events even if war was to break out the lifespan of these designs would be short.    They have too short of a range to be commerce raiders.

With Missile tech reaching the point of being highly useful, the UNN put its stored resources and shipbuilding investment to hard work.    Part of this was the Cape Town/Anubis building project.    Designed so that the Cape Town tooling could also build the Anubis class, The initial order was for 8 of each type, to produce 6 Task forces with one of each, and a battle group with two of the type.

The Cape town is a AMM defense ship.

This is the third part of the Cape Town/Anubis design, a frigate to provide the active Search when outside of earth based sensors and to provide additional AMM support.    In addition, another 4 will be tasked with more independent action.    This design was also given the ability to strike with its Wasp AMM to more ship based targets, which may prove effective vs.  Merchant shipping.

Seeing that the build schedule for the Oslo class was falling behind, This lightly armored design was presented as a stop gap, since then, the build order of 8 has been doubled, with a option of 2 more.    Not only providing long range and a good sensor platform, the sudden understanding of Jump points means that this class is a effective first scout and the First of the design was the first ship though the jump points with its jump tender.    it so far has proven to be a cheap, proven design.
