Triumvirate of Venus Embassy
« on: April 17, 2014, 11:00:07 AM »
[ooc]This will be where I throw up all of the Triumvirate's public proposals and announcements, such as when we claim Sol for the glory of Svarog, the Sun God. I mean, we would never do such a thing. Certainly not.[/ooc]

Announcement Date: April ??, 150 AF
Author: Vladimir Sicarius
Subject: Technological Transfer Bid

The Triumvirate of Venus has authorized me to place this bid towards the other two currently extant factions of the Human Race. We are currently interested in acquiring improved slower-than-light engine technologies, in order to improve our civilian shipping. Specifically, we wish to acquire the necessary technologies to produce Nuclear Pulse Engines, and are willing to offer the following as possibilities for trade, either alone or combined. Specific details may be obtained once specific negotiations begin.

  • Jump Point Theory
  • When complete, a Gravitic Survey of Sol
  • Max Squad Jump Radius 50k
  • Other options may be added later.

However, once NPE technology has been acquired, we are still interested in trading technologies for the following items we have listed, in order to maintain good relations with our neighbors as well as improve the quality of life for Subjects of the Triumvirate.

[ooc]Edit: No longer valid.[/ooc]

Subject: Proposal for the Agreement on the Fair Distribution of Jump Points

[The following is a transcription of a live presentation]

As should already be obvious to anyone who has read our bid on SolNet, the Triumvirate has (re?)discovered the Theory of Jump Points, which are a form of Faster Than Light (FTL) travel that the Triumvirate's Chief Researcher assures me is perfectly safe and has absolutely no chance of opening a gate to Hell like in one of those ancient, pre-fall horror movies. Terrible things, I'm glad they're banned on Venus. I'm getting off track.

We wish to propose, in the interests of reducing tensions and offering Humanity the best chance of avoiding another Fall, the Agreement for the Fair Distribution of Jump Points. The details will be packaged with this broadcast, but in summary, it is intended to offer the species the greatest chance of survival by avoiding our own destructive impulses over something so petty as territorial expansion until we have much more redundancy in places to actually live.

Agreement for the Fair Distribution of Jump Points
Quote
Article I: Each Faction is permitted to claim One (1) Jump Point as their primary corridor of exploration and colonization. This Corridor may not be infringed upon by other Factions, and defense against extraterrestrial life forms is left to the means of the claimant.

Article II: If the Sol System contains more than Three (3) Jump Points, then these Secondary Corridors may be explored by any faction.

Article III: In the event that a Jump Corridor is discovered to be a dead end, then the claimant faction may abandon it and claim a Secondary Corridor as their new primary. All survey records of the abandoned corridor must be made public, and other factions are welcome to use their survey ships in order to make a sweep to ensure that there are no points available.

Article IV: In the event that a Primary Corridor is abandoned, existing planetary claims will continue, however unclaimed bodies may now be exploited by other factions. In contested systems, standard interstellar law will apply.

Article V: If, during the exploration of a Primary Corridor, connections are found between Systems claimed by two different factions, then exploration into this system must cease and the survey ship must return through the explored jump point, in order to avoid misunderstandings between factions.

Announcement Date: April 2nd, 153AF
From: Triumvirate Secretary General's Office
Subject: First Contact
Priority: HIGH

My Fellow Solarians,

It is with a heavy heart that I must come to you today to announce that what should have been a joyous occasion for our species was turned, brutally, into a potential nightmare. Several days ago on March 29th, while in orbit of what we have identified as Barnard's Star, a ship in the Venusian Survey Corps was suddenly and deliberately attacked by an unknown force consisting of five vessels. These vessels, to the best of our knowledge, share no origins with anything seen in Sol, and so we must conclude that they are in fact alien life forms. Unfortunately, before our ship was destroyed, no attempts were made by these unknown forces to initiate communication and so the Triumvirate is forced to assume they are hostile towards Humanity. The implications of this act are, of course, dire for all of humanity; If they will burn a Venusian ship from the stars with no provocation, what will they do to a Martian? To a Jovian?

With this in mind, we are announcing this loss as part of a formal request that the other Factions of Sol prepare themselves for the possibility that our home system may be invaded by these Outsiders from Barnard's Star. We intend to establish a picket force and defend the Sol end of the Jump Point, and would welcome assistance in protecting all of Humanity from this scourge.

Signed,
Secretary General GidoranMikhail Orlov
Triumvirate of Venus
