I'm curious, why the switch away from 6-power reactors?  They would seem perfectly suited for a fleet reliant upon twin 10cm laser turrets.  Just install one reactor per turret.

The simple reason is the reactors go up in size 0. 0.2 and 0.5 hull spaces, not having the ability to build a 0.4HS reactor I went with the smallest reactor footprint possible, this class is already overweight and I was trying to cram in a handful of shields as well, not very successfully. So the choice of reactor was predicated purely on hull space requirements.

Hi IanD,

Very interesting way to start an AAR, the Prologue is really original and at same time classic, in the sense that remind me of ancient Greeks mythes where gods are messing up with humans. . .

Your ships have quite advanced techs for a starting game !   :o

What were your set up conditions ?

Best regards

Set up was Sol system; Time of start was 25 New Calendar (0 NC was the start of the Trans-Newtonian Age). 2000 million starting population (it was approximately 400 years since HE appeared and there was only a dip in knowledge, it was not lost completely). Research points appropriate to starting population were allocated (80 labs), started with no jump technology but with ion drives and research 500 RP. That last was worth the cost. Bear in mind also that the first story occurs in 42 New Calendar. The next starts in 54 NC.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Yes Thanks !
I'm still learning the basic of Aurora and testing several starting conditions, thus my question.

Waiting for the next episode. . . .

It all depends when the current wormhole evaporates. I may take pity on you as I have just about finished the first and second battles and I am away from the end of July and much of August visiting the colonies :).

Are you planning to spend any time in southern California?

Unfortunately not this trip, Oz is the destination this time, from the Blue Mountains to Brisbane and then along almost the entire west coast from Perth to Darwin.

Ardem,

Don't forget the hoop snakes.  They ate all the Drop Bears in Melbourne !

Are you using developer mode to watch the Dorfa battles?

Yes, I was watching them; alas they could not prevail and are now dust with their neighbours who incidentally activated them. I use developer mode to cut down on the Invader/Precursor/Star Swarm conflicts, (sometimes all three in the same system).

Ardem,

Australia is now but a memory, I managed Sydney, Blue Mountains, Brisbane, Perth and the entire West coast to Darwin, then Kakadu and Arnhem land. Trip of a lifetime, but still lots more I would like to visit.

Say that again, five hour flight from Brisbane to Perth!
