Sensors
« on: September 25, 2013, 05:03:26 PM »
Ok, so I don't know much about them.  I'm thinking of designing a sensor buoy, and I'm wondering if active grav and passive EM sensors would be redundant?  I understand the active/passive difference and for most situations that would be important, but in this case I'd want to have the actives on all the time.  Would there be any point to having an EM sensor as well, or is that a waste of space?

Thanks in advance

In general if your actives are always on then the passive would be wasted space.  The only exception would be if you expect somebody to use a really powerful active sensor.  Even then you would probably be better off to have to different buoy's as the size of the passive sensor makes a big difference on what it can detect.
