Fighters and commanders

Is there a way to stop fighters "attracting"  commanders? I presume auto assign is the problem, but I would be glad if my admirals didn't "run off" and be hotshots...

You can play with the rank requirements of classes, I think that's the consensus on it. I use manual assignment for my officers so I don't remember exactly how it was done.

But, but, but.....  In the movies the top commanders are always shooting off to do incredibly stupid and dangerous things  ;D

Let them have their fun....

But, seriously, the only way I could think around it would be to build cheap little 'Command bunker' PDC's which have an admiral/whatever requirement to run it set in the class design screen, with a high priority for that leadership type. That would keep them out of harms way.

If you want to stop any commanders at all from being assigned to the fighters, you could create a fake rank above your current highest one and make that the requirement for the class.

I don't have Aurora open right now, but there is a tab (the second or third from the right, I believe) in the ship design window that has a dropdown for the minimum rank of a ship.
