What is the Pre-req for Ion engines?

I have Nuclear Pulse engines, but Ion Engines are not in my list of potential projects.   What do I need to study to make this tech possible? Better reactors?

Yes, each engine tech requires the same level reactor tech. Ion requires Gas-cooled Fast reactor.
