The Zhukov-class BDB is designed to provide a long-lasting, comprehensive defence facility for the Union. With the ability to store a full brigade of soldiers inside, and a multitude of heavy direct-fire weaponry backed up by redundant fire control systems, as well as an identical sensor suite to the Project 1201 surveillance ship, the Zhukov is intended to withstand a siege for up to a year. Production of these facilities will be commenced in 2060, on the basis of one per planet.

The Project 1107, colloquially labelled by designers as the Dalian-class will be used to conduct the support of colonisation operations, carrying supplies and infrastructure necessary for hostile world settlement. However, their lack of sufficient cargo space means extensive expansion of the Mikhaylov Steel Industries yard will be required for years in order to build even larger cargo-carrying vessels.

Thanks to the efforts of many of Eurasia's finest minds, a working jump engine was finally designed in the mid-2050's. Designed to escort the Project 1246 and the Project 1227 class survey ships, the Project 1204 will be the backbone of future extra-Sol colonisation efforts. Designed as an offshoot to the Project 1204, the 1204-A class is designed to escort military vessels, such as the Moskva-class, through jump points in concert with commercial survey ships. In the wake of the Moskva incident however, the 1204-A has assumed a central role as the only way for the new Project 1301 Borodino's to make their way to other star systems.

On the 3rd of May 2056, the Project 1201-class ship 'Moskva' was quickly destroyed with all hands by the inhabitants of the star system Proxima Centauri. This disgrace to the Union and the VKF will not stand, and it was with a firm unanimity ordered that the first true warship of the VKF was to be designed. Originally, the designers attempted to install a pair of 120mm railguns on the hull, only to find that in doing so the projected result ended up being a mere fifty tons over the hard limit of the J3000-jump engine.
In the end, the decision was made to remove both railguns and replace them with three 100mm meson cannons, which successfully brought the tonnage of the vessel down to the 3000t limit imposed by the J3000 engine. Production is anticipated to begin in 2058 with an initial batch of six planned.

Thanks to advances made in the area of lasers, and the comparatively short range of the meson cannons present on the Project 1301, the decision was made to develop an escort that could use the long range of lasers to best effect. Tentatively titled the Borodino II, a number of compromises were made for the design to fit the 3000-ton hard limit of the J3000-drive.
The active sensor of the Borodino's was left out, while a newly-developed nuclear pulse engine was swapped in for the one used on the Borodino I. In the end, the Borodino II is believed to be a significant backbone to efforts to pacify Proxima Centauri, and plans to construct the class on a 1-2 basis have been developed.
