Ships of the Eurasian Union

The Voyenno-Kosmicheskaya Flota (Military Space Fleet), founded in 2006, is the main combat arm of the Eurasian Union and also serves a dual-role as its main exploration and surveying body. Thanks to the current era of good relations between the EU and its counterparts in The Atlantic Treaty Organisation, the latter has become more important than the former. To this day, the service is patterned largely on the experiences and traditions of the Russian navy due to the lack of a continuous legacy for a Chinese navy.

The Moskva's are the first armed Eurasian spacecraft, and possibly the first armed spacecraft humanity possesses, as the specifics of TATO designs remain, despite current friendliness, unknown. Equipped with a full sensor suite, the Moskva-class will be detailed to provide reconnaissance support, both in concert with survey groups and the planned larger warships elements of the VKF are pressing for. Until major expansions have been completed however, the Moskva's remain the largest military vessels capable of construction.

The Kunlun-class are a counterpart to TATO's own geological survey ships, and will be used to coordinate the surveying of the various bodies inhabiting the Sol System. It is to be hoped that the forthcoming discovery and exploration of jump-points will give the Project 1246's a long lifespan.

The Asfanasyev-class represent the triumph of Eurasian science over that of the Atlantic countries. Equipped with the newly-developed gravitational sensors developed by V. Tikhonov, the class is designed to explore the Sol system for the hidden jump-points believed to be present. The Project 1227's will see continual use, as it is believed that jump-points are not a phenomenon unique to our solar system.

The Zhukov-class BDB is designed to provide a long-lasting, comprehensive defence facility for the Union. With the ability to store a full brigade of soldiers inside, and a multitude of heavy direct-fire weaponry backed up by redundant fire control systems, as well as an identical sensor suite to the Project 1201 surveillance ship, the Zhukov is intended to withstand a siege for up to a year. Production of these facilities will be commenced in 2060, on the basis of one per planet.

The Project 1107, colloquially labelled by designers as the Dalian-class will be used to conduct the support of colonisation operations, carrying supplies and infrastructure necessary for hostile world settlement. However, their lack of sufficient cargo space means extensive expansion of the Mikhaylov Steel Industries yard will be required for years in order to build even larger cargo-carrying vessels.

As of the present, the Union does not see the need to make the Project 1204's accessible to TATO unless in our interests.

On the 3rd of May 2056, the Project 1201-class ship 'Moskva' was quickly destroyed with all hands by the inhabitants of the star system Proxima Centauri. This disgrace to the Union and the VKF will not stand, and it was with a firm unanimity ordered that the first true warship of the VKF was to be designed. Originally, the designers attempted to install a pair of 120mm railguns on the hull, only to find that in doing so the projected result ended up being a mere fifty tons over the hard limit of the J3000-jump engine.

In the end, the decision was made to remove both railguns and replace them with three 100mm meson cannons, which successfully brought the tonnage of the vessel down to the 3000t limit imposed by the J3000 engine. Production is anticipated to begin in 2058 with an initial batch of six planned.

Thanks to advances made in the area of lasers, and the comparatively short range of the meson cannons present on the Project 1301, the decision was made to develop an escort that could use the long range of lasers to best effect. Tentatively titled the Borodino II, a number of compromises were made for the design to fit the 3000-ton hard limit of the J3000-drive.

The active sensor of the Borodino's was left out, while a newly-developed nuclear pulse engine was swapped in for the one used on the Borodino I. In the end, the Borodino II is believed to be a significant backbone to efforts to pacify Proxima Centauri, and plans to construct the class on a 1-2 basis have been developed.

The Zhukov's railguns won't work anywhere with an atmosphere more than 1, and the Project 1107 is really slow and short-ranged. At Nuclear Pulse, I'd aim for a speed of about 500-1000 km/s, and enough range to reach mid-system mining colonies. I really like the roleplay, though.

Ah, nuts. Less railguns, more meson cannons?

and the Project 1107 is really slow and short-ranged. At Nuclear Pulse, I'd aim for a speed of about 500-1000 km/s, and enough range to reach mid-system mining colonies. I really like the roleplay, though.

Only missiles will work on world's with atmospheres.

Basically, every 0.1 atmosphere of gas subtracts 10% from any beam damage, including railguns and gauss cannons.  0.1atm * 10 = 1atm, and -10%dmg * 10 = -100%dmg.

Okay, had a poke through the various designs and I realised the Zhukov had a size 10 missile launcher for some reason. Updated design has been edited into the second post, as well as another frigate design. Minor typos have been fixed and some of the descriptions rewritten.

The range in the design screen is where it has 50% accuracy. The maximum range is double that.

The component design window gives you the range for 50% hit chance, if you double it you'll get the maximum range as it is linear. Confusing but everything is correct.
