3 years into a conventional start in 4.8 and the game slows to a crawl, after half an hour of clicking in vain to have only a minute or less pass each time, I enter space master mode and check events... entire screen was npr vs npr action, freaked me out I must say, took another hour to click through after that.
I hope I don't meet the victor

If there is a lot of NPR activity the click Automated Turns and press 1 day or 5 day. The game will run by itself until something happens that affects you.
