Title: Star Wars (no spoilers)
Post by: Steve Walmsley on December 19, 2015, 08:03:37 AM
I'm taking a break from bug fixing to go to see Stars Wars. The company where I work hired the entire cinema and then gave free tickets to all the staff :)

That's great, I'll be seeing it next week.
I tried to avoid social sites to avoid spoilers.
But then someone slipped one into a minecraft screenshot on reddit XD.

That nearly sounds like you work at a literal scifi gaming production company. ;)

Amazing though how such a large percentage of programmers are into this thing, that it goes without question that such a buyout maneuver would be good investment and appreciated.

Well, gaming but not sci-fi gaming :)

This company tends to think big when doing staff-related social events. Last year the London office played the Isle of Man office, at football (soccer) so we hired Villa Park for the game (43,000 seater Premier League stadium). For the US, that is like hiring an NFL stadium for your office football game :)

It is very much appreciated by the staff though.

I didn't even play - I play the cricket matches rather than football :)

London usually wins the football but we win the cricket.

NOT A SPOILER  Just got to see this movie in IMAX 3D.  Don't have anything bad to say, mater of fact I walked out of the theater going "WOW".  I feel this goes back to the original three and keeps everything that made those good while updating everything.

It was worth seeing.  Not sure if it was worth the astronomical $27 USD that I paid for me and the GF to see it in non-IMAX 3D but it was still a great story.

Definitely a fun and entertaining movie, though of course not perfect. I understand why Abrams cut away so much exposition and background. Hopefully the Blue-Ray version will have a version with the cut scenes put back in as they explain the overall geopolitical situation, something that the cinema version avoids almost completely.
