Takamo is still going strong.  I am still playing, and it is still free.

I am looking in on it and I might try it out.

Takamo was a play by (snail) mail game I played back in the 80's that was three-dimensional space exploratation/conquest.
Later on, it became a play by email game.  The original developers have bought it back and are now trying to make it a MMO.
Meanwhile, they have brought back the original game for free- I am playing in it and having fun again.

You can go to www.takamouniverse.com to find out about the new MMO, or

go to www.takamouniverse/takamo to find out about the original game and sign up.  I am available for help
starting up your race/starting position and can answer questions.  They have also set up threads at
playbymail.net

As for the game, it was really good when it came out.  One could be a terraformer; trade, agriculture, or mining company;
smuggler or pirate; or even a cyber (like Saberhagen's Beserkers).  The game has 26 X 26 X 26 sectors, divided into 27 subsectors each, and could then have up to 5 stars with up to 9 planets.

In addition to players, there are also NPCs that you can conquer or ally with.

Fun game overall
