Discovering random NPRs
« on: April 24, 2020, 10:01:18 AM »
Did anyone discovered a random NPR while exploring, while having set zero NPRs to start with?

Even though I cranked up the chance to discover one, after 20 new systems nothing happened yet.

As of 1.7.3, I have. Yeah.

Note that the NPR generation chance only applies for suitable planets. That is, planets that fit the criteria in the tooltip. It's not a flat chance to generate NPRs. It's more of the chance that a suitable planet will have one if you find it.

I usually set it very high, like 70% or so.   Has worked fine thus far.

Makes sense to me. Would be weird if some species settle down on a gas giant.

Im going with 60% recently and “sadly” I didnt meet anyone yet.

"after 20"

This is exactly what one should expect.  Habitable planets are rare.

I had a scenario in VB6 where I had 90% chance and after 100 systems still had only found precursors. It was inane.

Yeah, that's where i start mass wiping systems and manually spawning NPRs.

It really is random.  Most games, nothing but the pre spawned NPRs.  Then I had a game 50 years in with 5 with 2 starting NPRs.

Some people set the NPR change to 80-100% and drop it once they meet couple of them

That is probably the best way to do it.

Met one in today's playthrough, right after what I assume to be precursors, but these surprisingly weren't immediately hostile.  They had stargates on their JP's, too!

Crank NPR Gen to 100 and you'll find one easy - well, as easily as you can find habitable worlds.
