Using alien technology

I've recovered some alien components that I'd like to use in my ships.

I can't figure out how to get the ship designer to show me the alien components.
I recall there was a checkbox that allowed this in the VB version.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

go to misc for the ship in class design and check the "use alien tech" box

Tried that allready. Doesn't seem to be making a difference.
When I go back to the design tab the components still don't show in the list.

Yes, same effect.

I really do not know then, It should work, sorry I cant help any further, let me know if you do find what it is.
