Do pre-TN NPRs research TN tech?

And if a pre-TN NPR has a research treaty with a player race, do they get any TN tech out of it?

I am 99.99% certain from experience that preTN NPRs do not research tech (Steve hasn't got the code in).

Do not know about the other question, I would imagine it breaks the game though since I _think_ they have no conventional industry to start with anyway.

Pre-TN won't research anything. They are an interesting speed bump rather than a threat. You can ally with them or conquer them but they won't get anywhere by themselves.
