He's making it into three parts, right? He'll be bringing filler material in by the shipload at that point :P

The Battle of Five Armies should be pretty long and awesome because of that, though. It might be a money-grab by him but at least there will be plenty of in-depth explanation done.

Three parts yes.

I cannot see the rest of the Hobbit book proper taking up more than another movie, especially if it's another 3 hour one. That leaves content from the Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales to somehow meld into a third movie.

I would say that Bofur played a noteworthy role along with the other more recognizable dwarves, but I concur with you for the most part.
I saw it not only in 3D but in the proper high frame rate, which was absolutely wonderful. Rivendell's backdrops felt a bit off with it, but other than that the increased clarity combined with the modest screen-depth were, as said, wonderful.
As for the music, I entered the theatre extremely skeptical of the shortened dwarven chant. I'm still a bit sad it got cut down to a mere two verses, but Howard Shore using its tune as the dwarven leitmotif more than made it up to me. The Great Goblin's snippet of Goblintown was also a nice touch.

Not a game or book, but based on a book.
