I found a combination of Resize Enable and GiMeSpace allowed me to scroll up and down on my 1280x800 monitor. It's a bit awkward at times, but it beats hooking my laptop to my CRT monitor.

I just tried GiMeSpace and my AV flagged the dll as infected.

Now, their site seems to be down.

I can't seem to make it work.  I can scroll down with GiMe Space and sdesk but when I resize the window it will just get bigger and the icons inside reorganized, now allowing me to see the icons on the bottom of the screen

Hi,

Just tried to install a copy of Aurora on a win 7 64 bit system, resolution is 1680 x 1050.  Textsize is set to smaller (in appearance and personalization -> display).

I have been browsing through posts and checking settings but I can't get rid of the texts not fitting to buttons or frames.  (see attachment).

Anybody any ideas? (No problem to use "obviously" when replying ;D)

Thanks,

Oleg

I'm on Win7 64bit also, and don't have that issue.

Check under Control Panel -> Display, Set Custom text size (DPI). See if it's greater than 100%

It's set at 100% and "use windows xp style dpi scaling" is checked.  Unchecking does not make a difference.

It's like the text can't be resized to less pixels per inch although the application and the window sizes are.

Just set it to 125% and now the windows/ frames are increased and the text is fitting again.  Doesn't make me happy but okay.

It looks like the text can't be downsized any further although the aurora windows can!

Aaaaargh
Window resizing doesn't work for me.
I have it set to resize windows but they always open with buttons cut off anyway.

Tried the solutions suggested here but not a lot of Joy (Win7 x64 on one of those 1366x768 Laptops).   ResizeEnable works but just kind of moves the problem around.
A solution, which I am sure must have been tried by others, but I have not seen mentioned in this thread, which works perfectly for me, is to run XP in a virtual machine on VMWare and set the screen resolution to something useful.
I don't know if other virtual machines work as haven't tried it.   I did not find any usable virtual desktop software, so a VM it is.

So, My workaround - VMWare VM with useful resolution, works perfectly, no issues.

I just try Sdesk with Resize enable, but I can't resize windows beyond my standard screen size (which is also 1366x768).

I will try your solution, deMangler, which seem to be the best.    (I will edit my post to tell you if it work for me or not).

EDIT : I download VMware player and tried it.   The problem is that, I don't know which virtual appliance to use, and I have no ovf version of xp, just a CD of a old version of windows xp (and I think that there is no ovf version).   Can you tell me how you made your virtual machine with VMware ?

Hi,
I installed mine from an iso of an xp installation disk I had kept as a backup.    I remember it being pretty straight-forward.    A physical disk would work just as well.
If my memory serves, there are sites that have scripts to help you make a vmx file for your machine, then make or download a vmdk (virtual hdd) and boot up your VM with an xp iso in the virtual cd drive set to boot and install as you would with a physical machine.
I just googled and found some good howtos, but I can't post links here yet.    Just go for it - looks like not having a bootable copy of xp would be your biggest problem.

Good luck - I would be happy to help more but I am no expert.
:)

Thank you for your help deMangler, but I use an other virtual machine call "Microsoft virtual machine" available freely here : hxxp: www. clubic. com/lancer-le-telechargement-256894-0-microsoft-virtual-pc-sp1-2007. html  (sorry, I am french, so I have a french link, but it's quite simple, click on "lancé le téléchargement" which mean "launch the downloader", then you just have to instal it as an other software).  It's totaly free.

It propose you to create a virtual machine which will have characteristics near the exploitation system you want (for exemple, if you want windows xp, you will nead at least 128 Mo of RAM and 60 Go of hard drive (I think not necessary, it's just an advice.  I use only 20 Go, and it's quite enough)).  After it, you have to instal your system in it.  No need to create a vmd or ISO or something else if you have a CD.

I thought it's easier, but it's just my feeling.  It depend on what is more intuitive or not, for you.

Now, it work very well.  1280x1080 (somthing like this) with a beautifull scroll bar (not really, but it was what I waited for, and this solution give me it, so I am happy about it) which allow me to see what I could not see before.   I had just a problem with a dll forgotten (error 743, if I remember.  I was not able to use the F9 windows), but I solve it here with a strange way, but it work well now (thank you, you are a really good community, it's pleasant to have such help like this ^^)

So, it'll be good for people who will have the same problem to have multiple solutions.  If one doesn't work, maybe an other will work, and if one is too difficult, an other will be easier.

Thank you again.

P. S.  : just one question.  Is it important to have protection on the virtual machine (I mean firewall and antivirus), without direct connection on internet ? (I mean, the only way is my real PC which have these protection with the connection)

If you are connecting to the internet from within the VM then you will need antivirus.  The built in windows XP firewall will be sufficient as long as your XP updates are current and you are not opening a browser or email within the VM.
