The one thing that really gets me reading the forums here is the level of discourse. Even when folks disagree, the level of discourse is light years beyond what I see in other forums.
Example:
<Any other game forum>
Subject A: Hey, the +50 Uberdork Blade of Dweebness is l33t!
Subject B: ROFL, like 4 patches ago noob!
Subject C: L2P!!!
Newtonian Aurora:
Subject A: Clearly, the mass of the projectile at a fraction of c is going to produce <Insert huge wall of math here>
Subject B: That clearly doesn't include the factors for heating <Insert yet another large block of math>
Subject C: You missed a decimal point!

It's what happens when educated adults use the internet: grammar, politeness, respect.... this place has it all.
I love it here. And the games are nice too. ;)

Well, politeness is hard to get across in numbers.
I repeatedly found myself not reading all of it because of time constraints, but it's great to be around.^^

The politeness/courtesy is in using the numbers. In this you show the respect for the other party in that they can understand or are worth teaching. Instead of just a bunch of four letter words or abbreviations that mean the same.
To paraphrase a rather old saying...
Do not criticize a fool for they will only hate you for it.
But criticize a wise man and he shall thank you.

backing up arguments with well thought out counter points and stats to back it up.
