ExChairman:
Being built to defend a specific point in space, as a wormhole jump point. Its supposed to be able to stop small fleets and its heavy shielding and armor belts are among the heaviest in the Swedish Navy.
The 2 squads of Space Jaegers for defence against boarding.
The 20 JA-37s being groped in 10 Rotar (pairs) of 2 each carrying 2 huge armored "Hammer" torpedoes each, that have the yield to destroy almost all known enemy capital ships in known space.

There is a thought to tow 4-8 of the old colony space defence units called "Kastellet" as close in defence against missiles, fighters or other Fast attack crafts.

But building a new improved Gatling palttform from scratch is probobly better , faster tower and a slight increase in firepower as well as 50% more armor.

A couple thoughts...
* Could you maybe add just a little more warhead to the Hammers, so they have WH 81 and damage 9 layers of armor, instead of WH 80 and 8 layers?
* Not terribly impressed by the Drakelds... they feel short-legged and slow. They're, what, 40% accurate against your Viggens? Maybe drop to WH 16 and put more speed/range into 'em?
* I don't think any ship which can shrug off those lasers is going to be scared of a measly 5 meson cannons.
* No passive sensors? I suppose you don't really need them if you're locking down a chokepoint...

Yes you have valid points. The Empire have been in space for 70 years and this is the first "real" war being fought, all ships except the BB HMS Sverige is an rebuilt ship that are some 40-60 years old, upgrades have been made in weapons, power, engines, size and so on.
But fighting small units of robots are space dragons have not been a challenge...
Drakeld or "Dragonfire" is supposed to be a close proximity weapon, they were developed to be used by the first fighters but did not work as planned, the fighters were slaughtered before reaching firerange... :(So now they have been placed on a defensive doctrine. There is plans of upgrading them. ::)

When you get to warheads that size Shock Damage is more important than penetration. Doing one damage to layer 9 doesn't make much difference because you're already scoring ~13 internal hits every time.

I have actually used something like the DrakeId as a tool for finishing off enemy disabled ships. I have deliberately limited my ordnance factories, so I want to be as efficient in my ordnance BP in magazine space required. So having a cheap missile, usually from a previous tech level, for finishing off enemy ships is a way of conserving BP and getting the most use out of already produced missiles.
I typically open with older generation missiles to probe enemy missile defenses.
