Edit:
I've done almost all of the lists of names I want to do. Does anyone have any suggestions for more lists?
I ask that suggestions be kept to real-world navies, where there are distinct names (not lists of numbers, e.g. U-boats) and the data is reasonably available. Modern navies are preferred, but I might go back past the 1880s on request. I will compile lists of specific types of names that have been used for ships, even if not all of the names of a given type have been used. US counties (LST names) is an example of this.
I'm going to start making new ship name lists, and I'll post them here as I do so. To use, download and add them as directed by Aurora.
The first is US Destroyer Escorts/Frigates (DEs).
The second is Modern US Amphibious Warfare Vessels (Post-WWII).
The third is US Navy Transports (including AK-, T-AK-, AP-, T-AP-, APA-, and AKA- types).
The last one is various US Navy Auxiliaries (Ammunition ships, tankers, tugs, etc.) Type is designated in the file itself. (I don't want to add a huge number of different files, so I combine types when it makes sense to do so. If you desire to have the separately, breaking them out should be easy. Sadly, Aurora scrambles some of the list on import. Steve, is there a way to fix that?)
See next post for more names (due to forum restrictions).
