How fast do NPRs generally expand/explore?
« on: July 16, 2013, 03:37:11 AM »
Pretty much as the header.  I'm looking to start a conventional campaign where the starting NPR is likely to be around half way across the universe at the time of building my 1st jump engine.  I realize this will vary quite a bit, just a rough average is good enough.

In my experience, mostely with older versions though, they survey like madmen, but actual expansion is rather slow. With your conventional start, I´d expect them to have colonies/mining outposts about 3 to 4 jumps out from their homeworld, but probably not much more by the time you start to explore other systems. yourselve.

I've never run into an NPR that has expanded quickly and unchecked, though I suppose it is possible.
In my experience, if they do start pushing their boarders, they run afoul of other NPRs or spoilers and that slows them down and keeps them from expanding TOO much.
