Medals Conditions - Some never Awarded
« on: June 13, 2020, 04:52:10 AM »
Hi Steve,

I do think some conditions are a bit hard to be reached in standard settings and actually impossible in modified settings. I understand modified settings are not the norm so I am not asking for any action there but I am still putting them in the picture to highlight how much in some cases it doesn't really matter.

Examples from 2 of my games.

First game 88 years in, research 100%, survey 100%
Scholar Leader - condition 250.000 research point generated - Never Awarded
Second game 58 years in, research 15%, survey 5%
Scholar Leader - condition 250.000 research point generated - Never Awarded
Now, I understand this is more end game sort of award when research is expensive but I still think it is very very hard to achieve at standard rate and obviously impossible at lower rates
Suggestion: scale to be 10000/25000/50000/100000

First game 88 years in, research 100%, survey 100%
Spelunker Class I - condition 1000 Bodies with mineral - Awarded 1
Second game 58 years in, research 15%, survey 5%
Spelunker Class I - condition 1000 Bodies with mineral - Never Awarded
The problem here is that even at standard rate commanders will be promoted before reaching the 1000 bodies, losing the command of the ship and therefore the possibility to get the ribbon awarded
Suggestion: scale to be 10/50 or 50/100

First game 88 years in, research 100%, survey 100%
Explorer Leader - condition discover 100 new Star Systems - Never Awarded
Explorer Class I - condition discover 25 new Star Systems - Never Awarded
Explorer Class II - condition discover 10 new Star Systems - Awarded 1
Second game 58 years in, research 15%, survey 5%
Explorer Leader - condition discover 100 new Star Systems - Never Awarded
Explorer Class I - condition discover 25 new Star Systems - Never Awarded
Explorer Class II - condition discover 10 new Star Systems - Never Awarded
Here I cheated to achieve the 10. So I have firstly gravsurveyd a bunch of systems waiting to reach 10 JP unexplored and then I just jumped in and out to avoid getting blow up by random friendly aliens. Again, the problem here is that even at standard rate commanders will be promoted before reaching the 10 jumps, losing the command of the ship and therefore the possibility to get the ribbon awarded. Also, the limit in number of systems available must be considered.
Suggestion: scale to be 1/3/5/10

First game 88 years in, research 100%, survey 100%
Finder Class I - Discover 100 Jump Points - Never Awarded
Finder Class II - Discover 10 Jump Points - Awarded 1
Second game 58 years in, research 15%, survey 5%
Finder Class I - Discover 100 Jump Points - Never Awarded
Finder Class II - Discover 10 Jump Points - Awarded 1
Same. The problem here is that even at standard rate commanders will be promoted before reaching the 100 jump points, losing the command of the ship and therefore the possibility to get the ribbon awarded. Also, the limit in the number of systems available must be considered.
Suggestion: scale to be 1/5

Some of the above could also benefit from an extra level or 2, but I understand that is not really a priority. However, I was wondering if allow changing the value on the CSV would actually work and/or be feasible, in this way one could set is own set of values also sorting the issue with modified and generally slower games taking into account such eventuality and lowering few of the values just for that game.
