Until recently I had been under the impression that there were three types of Swarm ships. The queen, being 60000 tons, soldiers at 800 and a worker at a few thousand tons. I recently found a pair of systems inhabited by swarm vessels, I managed to destroy a queen, so I sent my fleet into the next system, to be greeted by what appeared to be a swarm vessel weighing 200000 tons, with strength 1500 shields, it and its soldiers proceeded to destroy nearly 190,000 tons of my military vvessels. Has anybody else come into contract with this?

Yes. Matriarch. I found fighting fire with fire every effective with them. I draw their soldiers away, kill them with missiles, then "swarm" the queens or matriarchs with hordes of meson armed fighters. Delicious irony.

I had no idea those monsters existed, I knew about the queens, but this thing? It weighed more than the entirety of my combat ships added together.

I have never seen either until very recently. When I saw the shield signature and the speed, I thought "I am dead." Luckily it was a few jumps from my home system and had no interest in following.
