Can you have your fleet move in an arbitrary direction?
« on: January 30, 2011, 09:11:31 PM »
Just as an escorted freighter group arrived at a colony, my destroyer detected a salvo of missiles which it shot and destroyed; the hostiles which fired the missiles are beyond my sensor range.

Now, I would like to order my warships to move in the direction the missile came from, to try to find the enemy ship.  Is there any way to do this?  As far as I've seen so far, the only way to give movement orders is from the TG screen, by moving a fleet to or toward a specific destination.

Go to the System display. In the display tabs on the left side of the screen, one of the tabs is for
waypoints. Add a waypoint or two in the direction the missiles came from, then go into your fleet
order screen, check the box for waypoints so they show up as a valid destination, select the waypoint,
the "Move to" command, and there you go. You can make you fleet move on any direction using
waypoints. NPRs do this too. :)
