Can dead/retired commanders be awarded posthumous medals?

Can dead/retired commanders be awarded posthumous medals?

In the description it says "They can also be awarded posthumous medals." :)

It's at the end of the second line.

I simultaneously look forward to and dread the awesome change that will make me want the next version too much to play the current one :P

I looked twice and still missed it, thanks.

And now the next generation can have 10-minute retirement! Expend 200 tons of each mineral for glorious cyberification! Rejuvenation guaranteed!!!

Ye olde SpaceBattles would have loved that option...
Thanks, Steve!

Awesome! Really looking forward to the changes to retired and dead commanders! I have always wanted to give my commanders medals posthumously. You can imagine being some old Admiral who has been around since the start of your game, has a capital ship class named after them, a veteran of decades of campaigns against spoilers and NPRs alike. Responsible for writing half the tactical training manuals and two thirds of your doctrines. Finally you get some peace and quiet to grow tomatoes back home on Earth, or maybe you bought some land on one of those new colony planets that you helped to set up and protect. Just as you're getting ready for your second harvest, a bunch of uniformed officers show up asking for you to come back because this wormhole opened up and some new threat called Invaders came pouring out, hunting for ships to kill and planets to conquer. Earth needs their best Admiral to take charge once again!

Just being able to view dead commanders is a godsend, let alone being able to award them and restore them. I've lost count I've seen a death notice and wanted to look at their bio and personality quirks to include when describing events to others.

I agree! I think 1.14 should hit market right away so we could also fix the obfuscation problem with a recompile of the db.

Just a thought!

I think Steve should adhere to the 48 hour window and at the end of that window just push whatever fixes 1.14.0 has. That way we don't need to have multiple miniscule DB updates that'll frustrate ppl.

Otherwise I think it is a good idea to push a quick update so that the obfuscation doesn't show too much. Both from player perspective but also from maintaining the effectiveness of the obfuscation.

I was planning to test the commander changes in a new campaign before rolling them out - that is why I released v1.13. I've also started adding a new spoiler race based on the comments I made in the 'Pirates' thread, so I don't want to release that half-finished because that could lead to unpredictable bugs. The issues so far in v1.13 are minor. The two obfuscation issues only affect new v1.13 code and the game functioned fine without that for the last year, so I am no rush to push out v1.14 just yet.

Oh I wasn't aware that there was already half-finished features in so thats fair enough. I had assumed that 1.14 was basically only the changes currently listed.

It's fine - no way you could be aware. I am just taking advantage of my current coding enthusiasm while it lasts :)
