Hi! Thanks for these! Just downloaded this to finally start using medals in my current campaign. I was expecting multiple folders of medal images, however there was only one with the main set of medals - is this correct? The OP suggests there would be extras and optional medals present as well.
Also, there is a missing comma on line 9 of the CSV: "Having destroyed 10000 tons of Military ShippingWLF class IV"
Hey there, your . csv file wasn't correctly importing in the new 1. 10 update, so I took the liberty to fix some of the issues. I have attached both the corrected . csv file and the renamed medal images folders.
Thank you for the awesome ribbons, cheers!
Hey Froggiest, this is incredibly useful - do you mind if I host your work somewhere in a way that's retrievable via AuroraLoader?
Getting a #175 Function error with the "corrected" CSV file - does not like line 1 - New Star System - this seems to read "start" in the CSV file . Is this causing the error?

froggiest1982,
I am trying to use the CSV file from post 7 by GreyGoldFish - if not the correct CSV file could you point me to the right one.
Thanks.

froggiest1982,
I am having problems loading your CSV file / medals into my 1.11.0 game. When importing your CSV file ( taken from your first post ) , I get the following pop-up error
" 1.11.0 Function#175:........\medals\1.discovered_new_star_system.png"
The CSV file does not load and the medal screen remains blank.
Can you advise what might be the problem ?
Thanks
davidR
Hi,
thank you for the work you did, really helpful :)
There is just one thing that bothers me, did I do anything wrong with the import, or do the "stabilize jump point" medals really give 2k+ promotion score while the highest ship destruction award gives just 320/620?
I tested the ribbon set with aurora 1.11, the import goes without error but some medals dosen't have the conditional order,
This is the medal with that problem:Off-Topic: show
I don't know if this is my error or a bug of the CSV

Hi, thanks for you text, I just tried it out and all medals did get the conditions so not sure what happened there.
Can you see the medals and the conditions are not there or the medal has not been created at all?
There are few medals without conditions but these are relative to admin commands etc.
I have attached a screenshot.
Unless you did open or modified the CSV then you shouldn't have any problems.

I, sorry fo the late reply, I tried with the new version and this time everything works correctly, I don't know why the previous version gave me problems. ???
in any case, thank you very much
Have you asked Steve is he'd be interested in integrating these into the base game? It would be better than using actual American medals and stripes.
Would you be willing to design ribbons that could be manually awarded for combat against spoiler races - Precursors, Swarm, Rakhas and Invaders, so 4 in total?
And possibly some general combat ribbons that could be used as award for participation in war or combat operations. Something like US Navy Combat Action Ribbon, World War I Victory Medal or World War II Victory Medal?
Yeah that is what I do as well, but I only have your pack and default provided by Steve, so they are not visualy consistent. :)

Alright, I played a bit with this last night. I think the best way to handle it is to create the ribbons as base one, but don't include them in the CSV. So pretty much you will have the graphics set and once needed you will just have to select the ribbon you prefer the most, give it a name a value and so on. I felt odd to have ribbons for operations and wars not even occurred yet.
So I am planning the following set of ribbons with a preset style and color and as each war may have different operations you will find a general War Ribbon (this will be replicate by 5 to allow for recurring wars with same party same as done with Class I, II, III etc) and a set of Operation Ribbons to go with the War Ribbon (5 operation ribbons: 2 for ground, 2 for naval, 1 special). As once the setup is done to change color is quite easy with the ribbon maker I am thinking to do as many as I can in one go. I will play with it more today and may send some screenshots.
The above should fit all needs including fighting spoiler races. At the end of the day will be up to you to decide what use and when.
I finaly set up my 1.12.1 and of course I am using your medal set. Thank you again for the set.
And I have a bit of imput. I noticed one thing, Medal of Honor has anchor on the ribbon, maybe it would be better to have something more neutral as I would expect that this could be awarded to ground commanders as well?
Loving the medal set BTW. If I can be bothered I might manually edit the CSV so the medal promotion points aren't so seemingly arbitrary. Took me ages to edit the points in-game and I still need to balance them better. I assume this won't break the mod at all as long as I just edit the number values and follow the instructions to import the new CSV to a new game?

Hi Black, try the attached or if you have different ideas feel free to share.
I quite like this - thanks for your work.
If I may make a small suggestion - how about a separate medal for being the Governor of your race's homeworld? I mean you can use the Colony medal, but something special would be nice.
(BTW I created my own medal for that, but others may want that option too. )
I believe this medal set can be included in the base game, it is excellent!
Suggestions: Please add a few discretionary medals (no conditions) for distinguished (100), remarkable (250), exceptional (1000) services, distributed as we see fit with the proper citations we want. I awarded some to bold scout commanders going where no one went ever before (well except a Chinese convoy that said scout tracked over a few billions kms ;D )
I was surprised that the Medal of Honor gave so little promotion score by default. I give it 3000 score, to make it the most valuable medal outside the 'Former Admin Commander' stuff. I give it to officers who perform important 'firsts' like establishing the first colony on Mars or performing the first jump to another system. It guarantees they'll be Admirals and around for a long time.
What is considered 'Military Shipping' and why does it give less promotion points by default than destroying commercial shipping?
I get that Ace has to give out a small amount of points cuz it stacks and can be abused by swatting fighters. But shouldn't killing 10,000 tons of military ship reward more than killing 10 hostile missiles?

You are intended to set your own point scores based on how much you value each medal condition.

... - as a baseline, I believe that a commander accumulates 100 promotion score per year just by existing, so 100 PP ~ some action equivalent to the worth of one year's quiet, nondescript service. However I'm not 100% certain on this and it may only be 25 points, so if someone can correct me, my overworked and underpaid junior LCDRs will be be grateful.I would like to know the mechanic behind this as well. How do people get promotion points and how many? Does someone know?

Because I couldn't find one, I'm posting my modified csv that has more balanced point values. Or at least I think they are. I have added the governor and service medals from these two posts:Code: [Select]http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?topic=11424.msg142330#msg142330

I don't know what happens when you load a CSV pointing to ribbon images that don't exist, so I recommend adding those to your medals folder in addition to the main one on the first post, before importing the attached CSV.

Most people who used this CSV probably figured this out on their own, but just incase, for those who want to use this CSV without errors you will have to remove the commas before "outside of combat" and "or for an extended period":Code: [Select]Exceptional Service Medal,Having shown exceptional performance of the highest degree in service of humanity, outside of combat,ESV,250,N,service_exceptional.png

Just to be EXTREMELY clear, my CSV works fine. Unfortunately, another was uploaded on my board (rather than create a new post) which doesn't work. I have highlighted it to Erik but so far couldn't get it removed/moved.
Eventually, the original CSV is in the first post and if you wish to change something (like this user has done) please feel free.
Thanks
