Title: Halp!
Post by: The Khan on January 13, 2010, 04:24:22 PM
*runs into room, breaks down, crying*

I have tried everything, yet I cannot get to a decent start! I tried doing the tutorial, but that is just a start! It's not fair to make a game with this curve! I love Space Empires 5 but this is murderous!

Maybe a few more specifics on what you are having issues with and someone can point out a direction for you to go.

As a general rule, create survey ships (grav and geo), set up automated orders for them to survey, set up production and research queues and then progress time until you:
1. meet an alien race and go to war.
2. find a suitable colony spot.
3. empty queues.

1. Build warships and hopefully beat the snot out of said aliens.
2. ship infrastructure/colonists to the colony.
3. reload the queue with new work.

A side note, the fastest time advancement button gives some errors until it hits a week's time in advance.

As I look at the solar system, I see a TON of asteroids. IS there a way to automate their exploitation btw?You see, many have differing ores and whatnot.

Also, I seek to have a nominal streamlining. It may be asked many times, but far too much micro kills my brain. Please tell me. Your wiki and forum tutorials only lightened up a few things.

Khan..am italian.and my english are very far from ur..but am play from 1,5 year and am think to know WELL this awesome game.

u need: PATIENT,first.
Second:Passion
Third,Immaginations, enthusiasm, curiosity to TEST TEST TEST everythink.

Automated?
This is a SIMULATION so u can auto someway in this game but not all.

Research engines, and research better, research various civilians and militay fields..then DESIGN your own sensors or engines, and then put this design into research stations..THEN try to build something..:D

What bothers me is the extreme number of asteroids individually. Do you think they can be individually mined?

I'll try this game again.

Anyone getting timer errors at time advancing?

I rarely mine asteroids. There is usually enough to mine on planets and moons that asteroids at best become home to PDC and DSP near the jump points.

Have you geosurveyed them yet (this is automated with the "next 5 bodies" special order)?  As Erik says, there are typically only a few asteroids (if any) that have high enough mineral amounts and accessibilities to be worth mining.  Something new I've found in this version is that if you just leave them alone, the civilians will build mining complexes on them on their own, and you can simply buy the minerals from them.

Now this game is awesome. Private sector exists!

Yes, you can potentially mine every asteroid although only a few of them will have mineral deposits
