More manageable Population Locations window
« on: August 05, 2011, 01:39:01 AM »
I've been playing Aurora for a few days now, and I have noticed the Population Locations window starts to get pretty cluttered up with asteroids that I have build colonies on to skill up my geologic teams.  Some kind of filtration or hierarchy to that window could make it a little easier on the eyes.  I only see it getting more cluttered as my empire gets bigger. If there is already something that does this, then I blame my newb like nature and would love to know how it's done.

Well, if you can deal with keeping all your asteroid stuff out of systems with real population centers then it could work a bit since you can choose which dropdowns you want open, unless you're one of those people who put tracking stations on every rock near a jump point.

Apart from that, AFAIK, no. Just try to clear out any rocks that are useless/redundant.

5.5 replaces the population locations with a collapsable tree list. You can just collapse the node you don't want to see.

Alternatively, you can abandon colonies you no longer need (tapped out asteroids, etc).

I think we might be talking about a different window, all I see is a check box for Hide CMC and Basic Pop List.  I'm pretty sure I'm running the most up to date version.

Should have "Hide CMC" and "Group by function" as checkboxes. You are on 5.4x.

Another option is to abandon the asteroid colony after the survey team has completed its work.  But only if you don't intend to mine said asteroid.  It helps keep the "clutter" down.

Ahh, well that's weird.  I only started playing a few day ago and I swore I had all the up-to-date patches.  I guess I must have missed something, thanks for pointing it out.

That was it!  Thanks a million, I probably would have been playing in the stone age forever.  My first lost campaign due to a patch, I feel seasoned now.

well 5.50 only came out on the 4th August so you were probably up to date when you did the original install
