Title: Can't start Aurora_Wrapper
Post by: Dennis on March 07, 2019, 04:08:30 PM
I have recently installed portable aurora v7.  10.   But when i am running Aurora_Wrapper, It's just loading in 5 minuttes where nothing happens.   Then after 5 minuttes, it shows me an error where it says "Windows could not gain access to the path or file.   You have possibly not the necessary rights to gain access to the element".   How do i fix that?

Are you playing on a Windows account that has Administrator rights? The wrapper requires Admin rights in order to install the necessary .DLL files that Aurora (or rather, VB6) expects there to be but do not come with more modern versions of Windows.

After you mentioned "Administrator rights", i went and tried to go to options<account<you'r information and pressed confirm you'r indentity.  It asked me about a code, so i choose which e-mail the code need to be send to.  And when i found the code, and typed the code and confirmed my indentity.  I then tried to run Aurora_Wrapper, and it still was loading in 5 minutes and gave me the same error.  I honestly don't know if that's how you get administrator right, but i thought it was worth trying.

That's not how it works, as far as I know.

Your user account is either Admin or Guest (or whatever Microsoft calls them nowadays). You can go to Settings -> Account Management to see what user accounts are on your PC. If you are on a work computer, you most likely won't have Admin rights and will never get them if your IT department is competent. If you are on your home PC, then it should be simple to make your account into Admin one if it isn't already.

Of course, it might be something else altogether. You are not running Aurora from Program Files?

Ok i went back to settings<Account Management and then i noticed that i am admin, i just oversaw it yesterday.

I'm not running it in program files.  I have instaled it directly to my desktop.

Sorry, then I can't help you. Those are the two most common reasons why Aurora wrapper won't run. Hopefully someone else can chime in with better advice.

You can also try right clicking the wrapper icon/executable and selecting "Run as Administrator"

I've found that even as an admin account, not all programs are elevated correctly (thanks Microsoft).
