Disbanding and reassembling a team - Any penalty?
« on: February 19, 2016, 05:28:14 AM »
As I understand it there's NO penalty for disbanding and reassembling a team at any time. Is that correct?

e.g. A geology team that's 4 month's into a Geo-survey of a large terrestrial world. If I disband the team with a combined survey skill of 100 in favor of a team of 140 will I lose anything?

What about a Xenology Team?

AFAIK you will lose the effort/time they've put into the survey so far.

I fear that you may be right... but that's based on my experience with other games.

The way that Research works here (No penalty for cancelling a Research project and the recreating it under another scientist)  is what leads me to ask.  I'm content with leaving the team but I thought I'd clarify the point if possible as I'm updating the wiki.

In fact you lose time by not switching teams. Unlike a geosurvey ship, there are no points that have to be collected here. Geology teams have a percentage chance of finishing which is checked each week. Higher team skill makes it more likely for them to pass the check, and the size of the body less likely. Either team could finish the survey next week, but the one with the higher skill has a higher chance of doing it. This means that the team with the higher skill will complete the job in less time, on average.

What you say makes sense. I'll go with that for the wiki unless anyone knows a reason not to.

He is correct, I remember now it being explained to me before.   Mind you I still wouldn't do it personally for RP reasons, but for wiki/mechanics it's good info to have out there.
