I tend to think of it as stablised wormhole too. At some point I will change all the names to match that.

Sabilized wormhole is how I view it, hence the lack of requirement for so called construction ships to actually use any materials.

Nope!
Your two standard justifications for that are:
1) a jump gate is just a jump point that's been permanently stretched out into a wormhole
Or 2) the structure that stabilizes the jump point gets phased halfway in and out of the jump, and is therefore beyond the reach of this universe

Simple question I hope: Is it possible to deconstruct or otherwise destroy/render nonfunctional a jump gate which has been constructed?  Thanks!
