Well that game died to a pink horrible invasion of certain unpleasant spoilers. So, next game had a much better situation with regards to maintenance.

Also be mindful that you need 25% of each ship's BP in maintenance supplies a year, so 50 more facilities might not be enough.

Yay! I love a happy ending :)

All part of the C# learning curve. Just enough stuff is different and in new places that I am still "finding" things. I think this is my fourth game now, the other three were two down to my stupidity/learning curve, and the last was retired due to being stuck in a veritable wasteland system-wise.

And we have a winner;

216,250 tons of capacity
372,058 in orbit

I totally missed that. 50 new facilities in the queue and more tech in the queue. Thanks for pointing that out, it was staring me in the face and I missed it!

For reference, I believe you can see the two numbers near the top of the middle of the main colony screen.   One number shows the total tonnage your current colony's maintenance facilities can support at 100%.   Another number near that shows the total current tonnage in that colony's orbit requiring ongoing maintenance support (i.  e.   all military in orbit).   If you have enough MF, I don't think I've seen any failures reported.   It's when you are over tonnage that the Facilities operate at less than 100% and failures start happening in orbit.

 - If you only have 150 Maintenance Facilities... that might be your problem right there. Might. If you only have the basic Maintenance tech, each facility provides you with 1,000 Tons worth of maintenance. Each ship counts towards that limit cumulatively. All of your ships would need exactly 333,448 Tons worth of Maintenance or 334 facilities at the first level of Maintenance tech. If I'm reading your post correctly, you have less than half of that.

So, I am noticing a couple of issues with maintenance in my current game.

My survey fleets suffer from failures, but they seem to be occasional and mostly engines. My military ships, on the other hand, seem to be riddled with issues.

Long story short, my rattletrap fleet is exhausting the supply of spare parts on my homeworld. At the 150 starting maint facilities, the supplies have vaporized under the rain of constant part failures.

The fleet is;
4x 17,160 ton cruisers (Particle beam)
2x 16,196 ton escort cruisers (AAMs)
2x 8,300 ton fleet scouts
2x 8,900 ton destroyer escorts (gun)
8x 8,057 ton missile destroyers
12x 8,435 ton frigates (railguns)
2x 16,170 ton beam defense stations

So, those 32 ships are devouring all my supplies. This is with them sitting in orbit doing nothing. As they have gotten older, they are literally disintegrating in orbit and running through my supplies faster than they can be replaced. What am I missing here?

I am overhaulling the ships periodically, but did I miss a mechanic somewhere? My frigates literally have gone from a once a year replacement of supplies, to once a month and its killing me.
