Some new themes for your perusal! Some highlights:
    • Aeldari Names - A list of Markov-generated Aeldari names based on existing names in lore.
    • Drukhari Names - Ditto above, for Drukhari.
    • Greek Letters - Not sure if this was in already, but an ordered list of the greek letters (e.g. Alpha, Beta, Gamma etc.
    • Naiads - An alphabetical list of Greek naiads.
    • Ork Titles - 'Ardskull, Bludgutz, Da Unfraggable, 'Fowzand Teef, etc.
    • Roman Gods, Spartan Kings, Aquatic Creatures and more!

Plus, commander namelists for your populations, including:
    • Aeldari!
    • Drukhari!*
    • Orks!*
    • Tech Priests!
    • Necrons!
    • T'au!
    • Star Wars Humans!
    • Twi'leks!
    • Androids!
    • Dwarves!*

Hope you enjoy!

*Edit: Oh! For commander name lists: If you don't want many Orks, Dwarves, or Drukhari to have similar "titles" (last names) without editing the DB, you might want to add a few hundred empty lines to the surname lists. Furthermore, I'm using the "NameOneAddition" and "NameOneAdditionChance" in the DIM_CommanderNameTheme table in the DB to add "of Clan" and "of the" to the Dwarf and Drukhari name themes, so if you don't want to do that, they might be a bit wonky. But the rest should be normal.

Inspired by Kurt's Humanity First AAR and his logical but somewhat confusing use of Phonetic Alphabet designations of all NPR/Spoiler ships with lots of overlap, I decided to compile a collection of various other phonetic spelling alphabets, 12 alternate English lists, 27 other languages, and the anglicized Greek Alphabet that we've somehow been missing outside of shield technologies. In total 40 additional lists. I did not use any special characters, and tried my best at reducing the amount of overlap (still quite a bit even across languages)

I collected several datasets that might be useful for these projects, which can be found in Github here: https://github.com/joeclark-phd/namegen_tests.  Full credit: most of them came from another repo by Github user "Tw1ddle".  They include such diverse data sets as the names of breakfast cereals, car brands, pokemon, etc.  I won't post them all here, but if anyone is interested you may go ahead and prune and prepare some of those datasets (they'll need capitalization and spaces restored, etc.).

One I added myself is a data set I just couldn't pass up.  I came across a scholarly article by someone who found a 15th-century manuscript listing "The Names of All Manner of Hounds", an inventory of 1064 names for dogs from the late medieval era.  You can read the article here: https://www.brepolsonline.net/doi/10.1484/J.VIATOR.1.103488

I copied over all the dog names into the file attached.  Here's just a sample:

Argente
Aldirman
Archere
Archebawde
...
Beawyew
Blamer
Bragger
Braynesike
...
Cannone
Cradokke
Charlemayne
Creseyte
...

Names associated with the universe of Fallen London.
If there are fans of games from "Failbetter Games" it would be great if you supplemented the lists.

Here's a rather extensive collection of Greek mythological gods, heroes, creatures, and figures that I put together for my Babylon 5 related campaigns.

A list of names either pulled from or inspired by the ship naming screen in Helldivers 2, with some of the more universe-specific (ie "Super Earth") and satirical (ie "Elected Representative of Family Values") names removed. All names are in the format "X of Y", with 7150 total combinations from 130 "X" and 55 "Y" phrases. Examples include:
  • Master of Law
  • Blade of the People
  • Titan of Audacity
  • Wings of Redemption
  • Queen of the Stars
Not all the combinations sound as cool (ie "Patriot of Patriotism"), but most are pretty good, and there are plenty to re-roll.

Noticed a dearth of Polynesian themes, so here's a list of Hawaiian Ali'i nui (chiefs, kings) from the pre-unification up to Kamehameha I.

List of combined adjectives and animals (600)

I wanted something in a slightly different tone, so I combined two lists again: One with descriptive adjectives and feelings, and another with animals.   Randomized and combined they give names like:
  • Horrified Turtle
  • Friendly Whale
  • Furious Mink
  • Average Starling
  • Beaming Wombat
Only a lucky commander gets a ship named as glorious as the 'Brave Hawk' or 'Inspiring Badger'.   He is far more likely to get something like the 'Gloomy Pony' or 'Average Hamster'.

List of combined adjectives and concepts (600)

I got inspired by the British cold war "Rainbow Codes" and Ian Banks "Culture", so I compiled two lists: One with descriptive adjectives and feelings, and another with general and philosophical concepts.   Randomized and combined they give names like:
  • Engaged Bravery
  • Difficult Service
  • Troubling Technology
  • Abnormal Problem
  • Huge Identity

A collection of names from the Alliance Fleet of the Lost Fleet book series. These make great names for any empire consisting of humans from Earth, without being too specific to any one culture or nationality. The lists contain:
  • Lost Fleet Battleships: 37 names, mostly "impressive"-sounding names like "Defiant", "Dreadnought", and "Relentless".
  • Lost Fleet Battlecruisers: 31 names, also following the same general "impressive" name theme, along with some "nimble" names like "Agile" and "Adroit".
  • Lost Fleet Heavy Cruisers: 58 names, with a variety of combat- and mythology-themed names like "Gryphon", "Kraken", "Parapet", and "Vambrace".
  • Lost Fleet Light Cruisers: 59 names, with a similar list of combat- and bird-themed names like "Brigandine", "Hawk", and "Pommel".
  • Lost Fleet Destroyers: 91 names, mostly weapons and "light"-sounding names like "Bolt", "Dart", "Xiphos", and "Flint".
