There is, but not when releasing the tractor at a jump point.   That said, Ziusudra's suggestion works.

It's a bug. You will be able to use the order at jump points in v5.50

I'm pretty sure that in the orders tab when you select the destination of the fleet there is an option to disconnect tractored ships as one of the destination options. Don't remember going through any of the above to get my platforms dropped off

Is it possible to tractor a defense station to a jump gate and leave it there?  I'm not seeing the option to disengage the tractor once at the jump point.

That or you can put a fleet an empty fleet at the jump gate (create the empty fleet, then move it using the 3rd tab - you might need to be in SM mode to hit "save", even if the fleet is empty).  At that point, you can target the fleet for the move order with a "release all tractored ships"

On the F6 Ships window there is a Tractor Link section on the Miscellaneous tab. You can break the tractor link there. After that you can detach the station from the tug TG in the F12 window.
