i'm playing 4.9.1

How to explore such ruins? deploying Xenologist team or something else??

Deploy the Xeno team and then once they figure out the language you deploy Engineering Brigades which try to recover the ruins.

So far I have discovered a Ruined Colony, a Ruined City, and a Ruined Settlement, which leaves me wondering . . . which is bigger?  Is there a list somewhere that tells me the various sizes of all these things?  I would like to employ my Archaeological team to best effect . . . if only I could figure out what that is.

From lowest to highest

Destroyed Outpost
Ruined Outpost
Ruined Settlement
Ruined Colony
Ruined City
Damaged Installation
Abandoned Installation
Partially Intact City
Deserted Intact City
Deserted Intact Cities

If I had to guess...
Colony>City>Settlement.

As the topic says, I have a question about ruins.  Is there any way to manually add them to a planet/moon?  I see the "Random Precursor" button on the system display screen, but that appears to add ancient ships, rather than ruins.

I am keeping precursor ships out of Aurora until I have time to bring them up to date with all the changes. Therefore I have changed the Random Precursor button to a Random Ruin button. This will add a random ruin type and possibly abandoned factories/mines. Each time you press the button, it will generate a ruin from scratch, overwriting the existing ruin and any abandoned mines/factories. This will be in v3.11
