Meson's ignore shields, armor, and atmospheric effects.  They do one point of damage regardless of the size meson, and have half the range of an equal size laser.

They are the only beam weapon that can ignore the effects of an atmosphere.  This makes them very usefull in a planetary point defence roll.

Just a quick question to make sure I understand things correctly.

Meson cannons are the only weapon, aside from lasers, that can be installed in a turret, correct?

Also, meson cannons ignore armor, IIRC.  Do they ignore shields as well?
