On the combat overview window there is a "Missiles in Flight" tab where you can destroy your own missiles

Ah yes yet another tab/window I was unaware existed, thank you.

Missile screen should have them there to pop.

I must be a little blind as looking through all the screens list I can't see one that shows just missiles, did you mean the missile design screen or something else?

Is there any way to either SM destroy or via normal game methods, get rid of sensor buoy type missiles? I ran a test where I fired one at a way point that was under the maximum range. Now the missile sits at it's target location and neither dies on it's own nor runs out of fuel. For a year or more now I keep getting interrupts saying "1x Size 1  Decoy Buoy cannot find its target. It will home on the previous target location and use onboard sensors to search for a new target".

I can't seem to select them with SM and also can't seem to target them with a ship to blow up, have I missed something or will they die off eventually? If so what sort of time frame?
