Don't know if that would be too much micromanagement - but doing "exchange crews" (for example for sorium miners) would add some realism to the game... . Imagine hiring onto one of those stations and live the rest of your life on it... urks...
You could roleplay that the "Conscript" button makes it so that crews would rotate out of the civilian ships (and shuttle around the stations) finding different jobs.

But then again, would life be so terrible on a station/ship in space for a "commercial" worker? They could live in an apartment and work alongside their families, basically living their lives on it. The moral thing could be RP'd as a desire to go on vacation, see sights, buy stuff, etc.

Would be nice if all crews were transferrable.

That way older fighters and warships could be used as training ships. And crews rotated into new ships/fighters as they come into service.

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to "save" the crew grade points from fighters? FACs and standard ships can be refitted and the crew grade is kept; but fighters cannot be refitted - so could the crew be extracted and transfered to a new fighter somehow?

You could abandon the ship, rescue the pods and add the experience to the crew pool, but not transfer directly to another fighter. I'll look at this for C# Aurora.
