Post by: sneer on April 17, 2020, 09:29:47 AM
How do I start excavations on planet with ruins in new Aurora ?
I have sent ground units containing both construction and xenoarcheology equipment.
What else is needed ?

Nothing to do but to wait. They work automatically by giving a certain chance each construction phase to excavate something useful.

Follow up question: What kind of unit to use, a medium sized tank with 2xconstruction equipment or a super heavy with 3? Does size matters? Yea I know cost, transportation... But 10 medium units is 127.2 in wealth, you only get 5(.7) Super heavies, thats 20 CEs against 15 CEs...

Medium construction unit:
Quote
Transport Size (tons) 318     Cost 12.72     Armour 20     Hit Points 40
Annual Maintenance Cost 1.6     Resupply Cost 0
Construction Equipment:      Construction Factory Equivalent 0.05
Construction Equipment:      Construction Factory Equivalent 0.05

Vendarite  12.72
Development Cost  636

Super heavy construction unit:
Quote
Transport Size (tons) 558     Cost 22.32     Armour 20     Hit Points 120
Annual Maintenance Cost 2.8     Resupply Cost 0
Construction Equipment:      Construction Factory Equivalent 0.05
Construction Equipment:      Construction Factory Equivalent 0.05
Construction Equipment:      Construction Factory Equivalent 0.05

Vendarite  22.32
Development Cost  1 116

Follow up question: What kind of unit to use?

Whatever you like.

some options, with numbers

*shrug*  It no longer affects your chance of success, only how long the process will take.  Build whatever fits your fiction, and your commander's abilities, and your tranport's capacity, and your personal patience for many small formations or one large one, etc.
