Title: How DO you add other races?
Post by: Starkiller on April 02, 2008, 12:16:56 AM
As the subject says, how do you add other races in a solo campaign?
Is it something that must be set before you start, or can you add them
as needed?

Enable SM Mode... and select the planet for the race. Then Create Empire from the System View.

And this can be done anytime during play.

Correct. Though in 4.0, the AI will deal with all that.

Also, the game will create NPR races automatically (at random) on habitable worlds when their system is first explored.  At this time, you have to then control the race by hand (as Erik says, in 4.0 the computer will control).  The frequency of habitable worlds is small, however, so don't be surprised if it takes a LOT (i.e. several 10s) of systems to find one.  An SM-mode event will be generated when you enter such a system.
