Can anyone advise if the automatic award of a medal is working as intended as I cannot make this work ( v1.8)

It is working as intended if you do the set-up.
Steps without pictures:
1. Create New Medal
2. Select image/ribbon (lower left hand panel)
3. Select the criteria (lower right hand panel) These are OR conditions. So Research 5 Technologies OR Survey 3 Jump Points OR Discover Habitable World
4. Add.
Then have one Scientist research 5 technologies and they will automatically get the ribbon/medal.

As far as my testings go you cannot add criteria until medal is created. The criteria is for currently selected medal so if you change it, the changes will be immediately in effect unlike text and image.

Automated Awards work Pretty well for me, only Thing I noticed is that the "Destroy 10 enemy Missiles" Event usually already fires at 2.. or 3...

This is an important bit, it didn't work until I had created all my medals and then assigned criteria after the fact

Up till now I thought it worked well, got my Service life ones awarded and the Research one should be popping up quite soon-ish, but I just discovered Alien Ruins and that one did not get awarded. Gotta send ground team there and see if by chance they might get it, because the ship captain for sure didn't.
